ALEBRIJES loose shirt dress

This oversized shirt inspiration is designed to be worn either open as a kimono caftan, or closed as a loose dress. It comes with a detachable self-fabric belt that passes through the garment’s side seams loops on waist height, so you can tie it in front and accentuate your waist! It also features a pair of pockets in front. The shirt’s length makes it easy to also be worn barefoot or with a pair of flat sandals or flip flops. Feel on the beach so cozy, as if you are at home!

Inspired by the brightly colored Mexican folk art sculptures of some fantastical creatures, our “Alebrijes” print is here to lighten up our wardrobe. Native to the Valley of Oaxaca in Mexico, alebrijes are animals that escaped the nightmares of an artist and appear as a variety of different species - both real and fantastic. These colorful animal figures have horns, antlers, wings, fins, and some have them all at once! Though no two are exactly alike, all alebrijes have intense vibrant colors and intricate markings. They feature detailed patterns of stripes, dots, geometric shapes, flowers, and flames and their faces exhibit expressions ranging from peaceful and playful, to suspicious and sinister.
